 I'm a community activist.

Through my role as a community activist, I have helped others learn to help themselves.

Dr. Hopkins is a Medical Doctor (MD) and serves as Harmony's Medical Director and as a Board Member

 Healthcare is about people.

I was working on a project to open a clinic for the uninsured for several years.  After the opening, we saw our first patient.  She had no money, no health insurance. After examination, she gave the medical student a big hug, and her smile lit up the room.  She was so pleased that someone cared about her.  This moment validated all my efforts working toward becoming a physician for over 25 years.  Medicine is not about things.  It’s about people and care.

Eddie is Harmony Health Clinic's Executive Director

 My place in time.

When I started working at Harmony Clinic, I realized this is where I was supposed to be...a part of this special clinic.

Elizabeth is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who volunteers at Harmony

 Sunny picnic.

It really takes a lot to be a volunteer, you give up so much personal time.  When I was at the clinic's opening picnic, I saw all the people who had come together to give whatever gift they had to offer, and I felt like we were all in this together.  It's wonderful to be able to share the love with a group of volunteers.

 My calling to medicine.

I had wanted to be a jet pilot.  Then, there was a time my uncle suffered an accident, and went from being a star athlete to being a paraplegic. Within 6 months of that, my aunt developed a brain tumor.  No one in my family had a medical background.  That's when I realized that I would like to pursue a career in medicine.

 I can help my neighborhood.

When I knew I could make a tremendous difference in my neighborhood.

Paula has helped with Administrative duties at the Clinic

 Everyone deserves medical care.

I have always loved helping people, and this is my chance to help people have the medical care they deserve.

Big or small, we can all help.

My aha moment was when I realized I had something to contribute after seeing a need.  Individuals as a whole can help as much as government, corporations or big businesses.
